There are many research have examined the supplier involvement in new product development. However, some of those researches showed that the supplier involvement did not always provide a positive result in performance. That means some moderators may affect the new product performance after supplier involve in the new product development. This study investigate some moderators and exam them, including qualitative and quantitative research methods. We do the deep interview, analyze the outcome and develop into propositions, including the relationship between firm and supplier, geography conditions of supplier, market status of the supplier. We aimed at the manufacturer in Taiwan. We deliver 157 questionnaires, 152 usable questionnaires were returned.
Our research result are divided into two cases about supplier involvement in new product performance, one is new product performance in customer needs side, the other is new product performance in financial side. The result showed these two cases have positive result about the supplier involvement in new product development. And the result also showed that the relationship between firm and supplier and market status of the supplier have positive effect in both new product performance sides.
