| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 數位媒體設計系 === 102 === Smartphone and wireless have become popularity in recent years, and smartphone has become a favored device when people surf the Internet outdoors. In order to present vast information on limited space of smartphone screen, the design of website menu becomes an important issue. However, after the invention of large-size smartphone, the one-hand operation becomes more difficult than before. The past studies of human-computer interface indicated that half pie menu (HPM) has better operating efficiency than linear menu. Therefore, HPM is often used to alleviate user’s workload while operating on the interface.
This study experimented in two stages: In the first stage, the researcher has observed the using behavior of 36 participants’ right-hand operation on left side linear menu (LSLM), right side linear menu (RSLM) and HPM while walking. In the second stage, the researcher has observed the learning curve of 8 participants, whose thumbs length and operating experience are different from each other, when they operated on the 3 menus. The results are summarized as follows:
1.The participants’ thumb length will affect the menu operation time.
2.The menu type affects the number of operations error.
3.The 3 menu type did not significantly affect users’ walking speed.
4.The 3 menu types would significantly affect users’ workload during operation.
5.Participants’ satisfaction on HPM was rated between ok and good.
6.The operation efficiency of HPM can correspond to RSLM.
This study was designed and evaluated the mobile web menu, it can be used as a reference for researcher and web designer in the future
