Summary: | 碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 漢學應用研究所 === 102 === The economy of Taiwan had developed flourishing in recent decades, causing the industrial and business progress, with the obvious change of the family structures. The young generations left the rural areas to the cities to seek more job opportunities and higher living quality. Therefore, the elderly people have been left behind in the rural areas, expecting their children pay them a visit more frequently. The population of the elderly is increasing,Taiwan has became an aging society. Chun-Ming Huang sensed the severity of this situation, who re-started the writing of novels from the year 1986, especially concerning to the elderly issues in the modern society. In the next 13 years, he published 10 novels which set the elderly as the main character. Afterwards, the collection of these novels, “Life Set Free”, has been known for the concern of the elderly. “Life Set Free” described the elderly who faces the alteration of the epoch, in the view of social awareness and humanism,reflected the difficulties of the changing of the society they encountered, recording the flow of history. Meanwhile, expecting to rebuild the usual moral principles, to awake the public awareness of the civil society, furthermore, to call upon the national government to face up to these social issues. This study intends to analyze the context of “Life Set Free” with the elderly’s mind and situation, from Chun-Ming Huang’s point of view to retrace the roots and origin of traditional morality. Most importantly, to dissectthe issue of filial piety in the modern society, in order to response the description of twisting social value and cultural order within “Life Set Free”, also received new thought from the contexts.
