His works include fairy tales, poetry, and juvenile fiction. However, so far, not many of his works were studied. This thesis is the first to study Chen Chi-Kan's 1988-1999 works on fairy tales. Aspects of his works to be explored here are themes, subject-matter, and characters. Firstly, this study will discuss Chen Chi-Kan's background, creative motivation, creative literature, based on theories of children's literature, children's psychological development and literary creativity to understand what aspects of literature concept Chen Chi-Kan intended to express and his influence on children's literature. Chen Chi-Kan is a writer who is close to the children and their real life. His writing is always based on the spirit of compassion. He is good at utilizing multivariate techniques to create unique characters. He also integrates his rich and varied life experience to create a profound sense of the theme. His fairy tales also contain a strong concern for the natural environment as well as social and cultural phenomena observed. These features together constitute Chen Chi-Kan's fairy tales.
