It's a mechanical device with several adventages, such as compact size, high efficiency, long lifetime, high stability and available to change speed when the bicycle is stopped. Four different transmission hub, including Shimano 7-speed, 8-speed, 11-speed, and 15-speed, are introduced. The configuration of the gear mechanism and the control mechanism for each transmission hub is introduced. The clutching sequence table, mechanical components, and the operation principle of the gear-shifting mechanism for each transmission hub are also analyzed and compared with each other, and a design method is formulated to design the gear-shifting mechanism. Using the software-ANSYS to carry out the gear-shifting mechanism of the stress and deformation to evaluate the reliability and applicability. Finally, the transmission hub of embodiment design, with three types of speed control mechanism, we can get three 8-speed, three 12-speed, and three 16-speed transmission hub.
