Especially, the sound transmission between different floors is significant in the high-rise building. Since the main structure of the building is hard to change, in order to block or absorb the sound propagation, one of the most common and effective method is using the floor coverings construction for sound insulation. The purpose of this study, according to ISO140-2 standard, is to measure the sound insulation of three commercially available insulation materials, which is corrected by ISO 140-11 standard for the average sound pressure values. Then, according to CNS 8465 standard, the sound insulation of insulation materials is evaluated. In addition, the dynamic stiffness per unit area and porosity of these materials are measured. Finally, explicit finite element method, for example LS-DYNA, is used to simulate the impact sound pressure level and compare with the experimental result. The experimental results show that adding insulation material on the floor, it will have sound insulation of the low-frequency noise. However, due to the different material properties of insulation materials, there will have some difference in the sound insulation at each frequency.
