Unfortunately, this leads to unacceptable interference levels near cell borders. To control this, 4G systems adopt network multi-input multiple-output (MIMO), which is used to improve coverage and cell-edge throughput through multi-cell cooperation. Network MIMO can be single-user (SU) or multi-user (MU) network MIMO cellular system by coordinating channel allocation in adjacent cells. In this thesis, we make a comparison between SU and MU network MIMO. With network MIMO, a collaborative base station (BS) has to simultaneously serve its own users and the cell-edge users (CEUs) of other cells under a transmitter power constraint. As a result, we also investigate the methods of power management among intra-cell cell-center users (CCUs), intra-cell CEUs and inter-cell CEUs. Simulation results show that MU network MIMO with superposition coding offers much better CEU capacity than SU network MIMO. As for the CCU capacity, MU network MIMO is generally better than SU network MIMO. Sheu Jeng-Shin 許正欣 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 45 zh-TW
