Structured questionnaire is used as research tool. Totally 149 valid questionnaires were collected from maternal spouses in maternity wards of a medical center in Taipei city. The collected data were analyzed with independent sample t-test, chi-squared test, ANOVA, Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient, multiple regression and logistic regression. The results of this research are as follows: 1. Significant predicators of spousal support for breastfeeding at one month following delivery are attitude of spousal support for breastfeeding, prenatal education and family monthly income. The behavior of spousal support at one month following delivery explains 17% amount of variation, in which attitude to support for breastfeeding is the most important predictor variable(p<0.05). 2. Significant predicators of breastfeeding type at one month following delivery are the intention of spousal support for breastfeeding (P<0.05), behavior of spousal support for breastfeeding (P<0.05), 24 hours rooming-in (p<0.001) and birth parity (p<0.001). It means a puerpera that performs 24 hours rooming-in may increase the possibility of 8.26 times for exclusively breastfeeding at one month following delivery; the possibility of exclusively breastfeeding at one month following delivery for a multipara is 4.59 times of that for a primipara; every one point increased from the intention of spousal support for breastfeeding will increase the possibility of 1.35 times for puerpera’s exclusively breastfeeding at one month following delivery; every one point increased from the behavior of spousal support for breastfeeding will increase the possibility of 1.08 times for puerpera’s pure breastfeeding at one month following delivery. Attitude of spousal support has predictive power against behavior of spousal support for breastfeeding at one month following delivery; behavior intention of spousal support for breastfeeding at one month following delivery has significant correlation with puerpera’s breastfeeding type. The results of this study can be used in the medical team, providing puerpera and her spouse with reference for appropriate breastfeeding care guidance, and encouraging puerpera to perform 24 hours rooming-in to increase exclusively breastfeeding rate.
