Plant factory is a crop production system which is isolated from outside environment. It prevent natural disaster, blight of crops, limited land effectively.
In the thesis, the goal was to develop a new light apparatus with LEDs optimized for vegetable production in plant factory. We design a novel LED lamps and lanterns with the structure of curve. The lamps enhance the uniformity of radiation, and reduce the dark area of radiation. Fluorescent lamp is popularly used in the plant factory, however, the spectrum of fluorescent light is broad and some portion of them is not necessary for photosynthesis. Power consumption of LED light source is reduced by appropriated spectrum.
In our study, we split three different condition of light source. They are white LED, monochromatic LED (Red 660nm and Blue 430nm), monochromatic LED (Red 660nm and Blue 450nm), respectively. The specific objective was to investigate the effective light quality for growing plant more healthy and rapidly. The effect of light provided by various light wavelength. The growth rate of plant is observed by the combination of LEDs (blue, red). The growth of lettuce depend on wavelength, intensity, and R/B ratio .
The experimental results show, Blu-ray 430nm and 450nm wavelength of plant growth on the situation is slightly different, but the actual difference is not obviously. We also found the ratio of the red and blue affect plant growth. And we have designed a new type of lighting is also really improved light uniformity, but also improve the consistency of plant growth, and effectively reduce the power consumption of the light source. We successfully cultivate the lettuce within 30 days.
