This makes it important for the interior design of a home to be not only practical in its functionality but also visually appealing. Interior designers nowadays utilize various lighting plans to create more spatial design and warmth in the home environment. They most often use indirect lighting in the living room area to do so‚ but now much energy is consumed through this design is underestimated. By creating different heights of the ceiling and various spatial layering‚ this can affect the lighting distribution in the living room area even when using the same type of luminaries . This research project makes use of the Dialux software to analyze the difference in lighting distribution‚ energy consumption‚ and the atmosphere created between indirect lighting and direct Lighting across the living room setting. The results are shown as follows: 1) Indirect lighting can create different atmospheres by reflecting light off the ceiling ‚ but this can vary from each users preference in taste and choice of luminaires. 2) It is also shown that indirect lighting consumes two times more energy than direct lighting in the same setting using the same light fixtures. 3) Indirect lighting can reduce direct perception of light. By installing a reflective board‚the light shining onto the ceiling from the indirect lighting ceiling is Reduced 68-82% which can help generate different atmospheres. 4) In the living room setting‚ it is not enough to just use indirect lighting‚ but it is required to use other lighting to create a brighter environment for reading and other social purposes.
