With regard to interactions between people and technology, threats of technology, challenges associated with cybernetics and control theory, and varieties of fantasy and questions, artists often use image stacking technique, which seems virtual yet feels real, to reproduce the ideal essence of life and reflect digital visual culture within it. Basing on such background, this paper discusses art creations of Cyborg body in contemporary digital visual culture in Taiwan. Through literature reviews of historical studies of Cyborg body, interviews with experts and artists’ artworks, the researcher discovers the developments, meanings and aesthetics of Cyborg body. While analyzing its significances, the characteristics and myths of Cyborg body art are summarized. This research not only provides artists a better understanding to Cyborg body, but also suggests how Taiwanese artists use Cyborg body as a theme in their art creations. With this research, the educational meanings and values of Cyborg body can be enhanced in the field of digital visual culture. This study pointed out the attributes and myths of Cyborg body artworks in Taiwan digital visual culture. Artists tend to adopt the digital concept of “Internet” and “virtuality”, utilizing creative approaches of virtuality and reality, collage restructuring, abstract imagery, creating conflicts and interacting. They use Cyborg body directly or indirectly as symbols, demonstrating diverse aspects and multiple meanings to present discussions of biological genes, religions, science, philosophy and other related topics in Cyborg body. Between reality and virtuality, artworks demonstrate unique aspects of digital visual culture.
