By means of power schemes and pretension, the governor maintains the complicated structure of modern society; whereas the governed internalizes itself into a tamed as well as docile body owing to his/ her limitation of knowledge and financial status. This thesis aims to clarify the author’s understanding of the power phenomena in Taiwan, seeking to unveil the power relationship lurking beneath the Taiwan society. Through my own art creation and image signifiers, I intend to interpret the representation of individuals, events, and objects that are functioned within the power relationship in Taiwan. Meanwhile, I would build up my concept of creation via reviewing scholars’ and artists’ explanations of power, utilizing it into practical art creations so as to help myself better understand diverse materials and image transformation. It is hoped that my art creations are created as the projection of life process that reveal my deep concern of the society and my participation in it. The main material of my creations is oil painting, which illustrates the distinguished images of individuals, events, and objects functioned within the power relationship in Taiwan. My concept of creation can be divided into three threads: “The Floating Faces,” “The Emperor’s Sugarcoat,” and “The Absurd Taxidermy.” These three threads construct a solid frame of my creations; they represent my personal explanations of social phenomena. This thesis examines the author’s reading and understanding of power manipulation and explains the context and the process of art creations as well. On the other hand, the creations of painting display the visual stimulation, which is beyond verbal expression. It brings forth the collision of reality and fantasy, allowing audience new ways to reconsider a solution. 高震峰 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 62 zh-TW
