In 2009, supported from Taipei university (formerly Taipei Physical Education College) Adventure Education Team, Shuangxi Elementary School started experimenting forest adventure courses. In this study, based on the Shuangxi elementary school’s developing process and results, we collected related document and use methods of interviewing and Literature analysis to come out as the followings:
1.Background of developing characteristic school
Originally Shuangxi elementary school started special programs and courses is because of the pressure of facing school close issue. Then teachers start to develop school oriented programs.
2.Issues and strategies of developing characteristic school:
The issues come from teachers, school and parents. The strategies can be the following 5 parts:
a.Seeking support from foreign experts.
b.Find stable funding.
c.Establish professional teacher team in school.
d.Have effective marketing strategies.
e.Principal’s leadership to let the special school more completed.
3.The impact and future of characteristic school for Shuangxi elementary school
The impact can be the following 3 parts:
a.The number of students is increasing.
b.Characteristic school gains recognition.
c.The worries from parents and teachers
To become a Characteristic school will be Shuangxi elementary school’s target.
