In terms of judgment for young children to choose gender of partners, it is found that there is no gender difference, but there is age difference for them doing so because of different play situations; 5 year-old children are more easily to select same- gender partners. In terms of reason for young children to choose gender of partners, there are gender and age differences. Boys tend to choose the opposite gender for morality; 5 year-old children are easily to choose same- gender partners for social customs. The study results also indicate that young children choose opposite gender partners in order to be fair and select same- gender partners based on gender stereotypes and group identification.
