The speed on how fast to complete product design and pass customer’s verification for acceptance is where the Research and development department’s competitiveness lies. The purpose of this study is to follow ISO development process established to develop knowledge platform for data classification and assist industrial tablet PC designer/ personnel with a similar project design reference design from past experience to watch out for matters of the same type at new development process. This is to be noted and avoid repetition of errors, also will shorten development time and expense. Through interviews with nine industrial computer company's product managers, mechanical engineers and ID designer, a total of twelve employees. The interview is used to understand the various problems during industrial tablet design process. Outcome for the interviews was that industrial computer companies generally do not pay attention to knowledge management, cross-sector information has not shared, and corporate resources are not used effectively. Interview process also makes us understand design requirement for Industrial Panel PC in mechanical design, which includes regulatory approvals, waterproof experience, new technology and other experience. These combined with knowledge management, to provide mechanical design recommendations in accordance with the demand side product design requirement. This will provide the industry-related enterprises to establish a management method for classification of institutional knowledge platform and according to the knowledge requirement. This is divided into nine classifications; add to each of the ISO research and development process to providing knowledge for each classification in each step of the process. This will be used to help engineers to shorten product development time and reduce design errors, and provide product knowledge query platform to enhance the expertise of the team's ability. The knowledge can also be used as new staff education platform and through the knowledge management to enhance their soft skill.
