In writing this thesis I was able to unearth issues which shall be helpful in giving the reader an in-depth understanding of what disability is all about. After consulting different authors and international database across the cyber world, I discovered that disability across the world is on the rise at unprecedented rate. With natural disasters, diseases and wars being fought in different parts of the world, many civilians are caught in the middle of these senseless wars, many have been made disabled mostly by Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and, sadly those affected usually don’t get the necessarily support they deserve, especially those in developing countries. Perceptions about Disability have and are still contributing to the rise of disability in developing countries, this is because of limited knowledge about disability, so many of the disabled are denied the education that they deserve as most of them are kept in their homes. In the developed world though most of the disabled are given the opportunity to go to school but at the end of the day employment becomes a problem, so they end up applying for Disable Benefits. As the number is rising as stated earlier on, it’s worth noting that this will have a serious effect on the economy. As the saying goes Disability does not mean Inability, there are many famous people in the world who has/had some form of disabilities, the likes of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, he was the 32nd President of the United States, Bruce Willis a German – born American actor and singer, Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC)- A Greek philosopher ,Tiger Woods an American professional golfer just to name a few were or had disability in their lives but they did extremely well in their various careers proving that disability does not mean in disability. Therefore Governments needs to work with families, the disabled and the Society in general, so that the disabled gets the necessarily support that they deserve, this will no doubt help them realize their full potentials. 戴嘉明 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 74 en_US
