Through the forming process, this study attempts to look into the connection between fold lines and the forms, and further, to see how the lines and shape affect each other when continuing applying metalsmith technique. The main materials are paper and metal in this study. Through the literature and documents review, in addition to the theories and facts, the overview of forming process and the analysis of metal designs inspired by origami and folding enhance to identify the characteristics of paper and metal, especially the forming technique of sheet metal in folding and curving shapes help to understand the ductility and malleability of metal. And then, turning to compose and develop the 3D forms starting by using sheet metal in basic shape like square. There are 3 phases - Fold、Transform and Curve in this form development and creation. The theme of creation reflects people’s life experiences and self-exploration inspired by the saying that everyone was pure as a piece of paper in the very beginning. The first step is to accomplish the goal to fold sheet metal and create forms composed by flat surfaces accompany the fold lines on the edges. Afterward, in the second the third phases, forge to curve the flat areas. The lines start to curve and the angles of the fold change affected by the crook of the surfaces. The creator named this process “Curve to Fold”. The forms and shapes constructed by “Curve to Fold” are varied and worthy to continue researching and developing.
