Method:Patients who were diagnosed with chronic liver disease between 2000 and 2011 were selected from the National Health Insurance Research Database(year 2000);the patients were then sex- and age-matched(1:2 ratio)with randomly selected patients who did not have chronic liver disease. The risk of developing cataracts was estimated by Cox proportional hazards model(95% confidence interval). Results:The hazard ratio for cataract development in the group that received silymarin was 0.83, and the maximum decrease was observed for cumulative doses exceeding 1461 DDD(p<0.001).The mean time of cataract onset was 2534±662 days. The hazard ratio for the group that did not receive silymarin was 26.89. Conclusion:Silymarin can reduce the incidence of cataracts in patients with chronic liver disease who have a higher risk of developing cataracts. 廖嘉鴻 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 86 zh-TW
