The relationship of landscapes and human behaviors created the colorful memories and sense of belonging which are all unique to every local dwellers. Alone with the trend of globalization, communications of information, culture, and tourism industry thrived, changed the relationship between local and urban societies by increasing number of tourists, provided turning points for settlement development. The huge difference brought by globalization for human settlements reminds people of what they have lost, making settlement preservation become a good way to cherish memories of old ages. Although Bi Shan Settlement has suffered from ruthless wars, it still retains many historical western-style buildings and its self-sufficient life style. The combination of water environment, farm life and the influence of war created a unique experience belongs to local inhabitants. In order to revive the settlement however, not only have to reconstruct memorial images for the past, but also utilize culture properties with the natural life style and the interaction with modern society. This study took the “Heuristic Structure Theory” as the research structure and operation method, aimed to investigate documents of settlement revival, settlement culture space, natural landscapes and tourism industry. This study also took the Bi Shan Settlement as the object and induced 38 principles and 6 ideas for space reconstruction, and finally two solid concepts in the second logical inference which are “Green-hearted Living Space” and “Hoklo Hometown Gene Pool” as examples for further design of settlement space reconstruction.
