The study analyzed the future trends of global performance fiber industry and identified the competitive advantages of Taiwan performance fiber manufacturers. Porter's five forces framework, SWOT matrix and in-depth interview were employed to identify the internal and external business environment, the Case’s business strategies and key success factors. Performance fiber are accessories. The manufacturers must forge strategic alliances with leading brands, create strategic ODM target accounts, and maximize the synergies with marketing experts to actually sell products and services to customers. The study identified six key success activities that lead the Case to be successful in securing its market share: sound human resource management, a firm hold of core technologies, strong supply chain relationship, specialization and strategic alliance, high value added and low cost advantage, and differentiated services. The study reached the conclusion that performance fiber manufacturers should focus on nurturing talent, research and develop core technologies, provide a complete industry value chain through strategic alliance, accurately predict market activities, alleviate market uncertainty, reduce operational risk and operating costs, and make the venture’s product available before competitors’ products in order to gain a competitive edge.
