To study this Sūtra is the most suitable way to grasp the foundations of the Buddhism. This thesis deals with the the Philosophical significance of the Middle Way of Saṃyuktāgama Sūtra based on the topics of “Liberation from Suffering”and “Non-self.” Human being is the main stay of life. The concept of “I” never leave with the development of life. The feeling of happiness and suffering never leave the body and mind, and the natural phenomenon of birth and death is unavoidable, which originate many various kinds of worries and sufferings. The Buddha’s manner is positive to the difficulties of life .The Four Noble Truths are often instructed by the Buddha. And the study and practice of the Noble Eightfold Path is possible to achieve the nirvana. The Buddha’s attitude toward life focus on solving the difficulties of life and teaching the way to the extinction of suffering and liberation. So, the spirit of The Middle Way must accord with the Principle, the Dharma and lead to Nirvana. And The Eightfold Noble Path represents the middle way of the Saṃyuktāgama Sūtra. This thesis had discussed and analysed the thought of The Middle Way, and concluded that the extinction of suffering means liberation from all worries and griefs, and Non-Self means free from the illusion of an independent “I” orv”ego”,both are the foundations to achieve the nirvana and the middle way of the suffering and happiness. Accordingly, Liberation from Suffering and Non-self are the foundations of The Middle Way, and The Middle Way is significant to the practice of them.
