Summary:碩士 === 東海大學 === 中國文學系 === 102 === Jiang Ke-Sheng(1893-1959)was the newspaperman and the author who was active in the Early Republic of China. He ever worked in several newspaper offices and wrote many works about the grief, and this was a writing phenomenon of the scholars in the Early Republic of China. This thesis is based on the studies of predecessors, and then wants to expand the related issues of newspapers and periodicals, chivalric literature, grief literature, and the sense of theatre. There are six chapters in this thesis. Besides exploring the Jiang Ke-Sheng`s biography, the thesis`s author also consider the relationship between Jiang Ke-Sheng and newspapers and periodicals, and the connection with Nan-She members who were the important newspapermen in the Early Republic of China. He worked in the critical newspaper offices to comment on the social issues and messes, and he also wrote works for the Mandarin Duck and Butterfly School`s publications. According to his transition of writing style, we may understand, the writers in the Early Republic of China like Jiang Ke-Sheng, they were not only express their mood but also consider the reading habits of readers. Jiang Ke-Sheng was the expert of the grief subjects, and the writing inspiration was from the anxiety of his living environment, for the reason that he and his friends separated themselves from the society by going to the temple or the brothel, and these actions took shape of the grief style. In addition, from Jiang Ke-Sheng`s works, we also may understand the sequence of ideas of these writers had changed their writing styles from the chivalric fiction to the grief fiction, and this phenomenon represented the grief fiction had a connection with the townspeople lived in the commercial city. At the time of the Early Republic of China, the theatre circle in Shanghai was also flourish. Most of the audience were the scholars and the newspapermen, and the theatre activities were important to them. This can be seen especially on their literary works, and the slander between them, just because of the likes and dislikes of actors and actress. In Jiang`s works, we can notice that he made many comments on the theatre, troupes, actors and actress. Besides, when the troupes or actors selected the performing plays, we may understand that these plays not only inherited the traditions but also assimilated the new trends. This phenomenon can also correspond to the feature of the old and new transition in the Late Qing dynasty and the Early Republic of China, and we may know the grief theatre was preferred at that time. According to the research of Jiang Ke-Sheng’s works, it clearly can be seen that the representative writing style of poetry, novel and theatre in the Early Republic of China is the grief style, it was different from the Late Qing dynasty’s excited style, and it was the special atmosphere of the Early Republic of China.
