Generally speaking, the smaller the radial cutting width the better the surface quality of wood.On the other hand, the high speed coupled with low feed rate would also get better surface quality. Therefore, when we fix the tool diameter, spindle speed and feed rate, and change the operation parameters such as cutting path ( reciprocating cutting path, unidirectional cutting path and scroll cutting path ) and radial cutting width ( 0.1 mm, 0.3 mm and 0.5 mm ), we explore the effect of cutting conditions on the surface quality of wood.In order to measure the average surface roughness after cutting operation. It is measured in accordance with the parallel and perpendicular direction of wood grain, and with six replications measurement to get average value.
