It implies that combat troops conduct close-to-real war training after completing basic trainings and theoretical learning. Since Deng Xiaoping’s reform and opening up policy, the PRC’s economic development and the intention of the PLA’s military exercises has attracted worldwide attention. From the contents of “a strong military dream,” the PRC leader Xi Jinping has laid out strong PLA as “be ready to assemble at the first call and be capable of fighting and winning,” and “capable of fighting and winning the war.” From this perspective, building a well-round and multi-functional force is the responsibility of the PLA’s mission and the fundamental standard of military training. This thesis categorizes characteristics of the PLA military exercises into three parts: military operations in the war, military operations other than war, and cooperation with foreign military. This research adopts “the number of document analysis” approach by analyzing the entire Xinhua News Agency reporting on PLA military exercises from 2010 to 2013. The author analyzes the relevant information of military exercises, important speeches of Chinese leader, and related journals to understand the intention, characteristics, and trends of the PLA military exercises. The findings of this study show that the PLA’s military exercises at the current stage mainly focus on the principle of real combat preparation. The content of exercise is to prepare the possible scenarios that China may encounter in the future. China is training their forces as status of the developed countries. Moreover, their military exercises have become more transparent by announcing the dates and participants. This move is likely to response Xi Jinping’s proposal of “China Dream,” so that the Chinese people will have more confidence in PLA. On top of that, through the broadcast of foreign media, the transparency of military exercises might reduce the foreign countries’ fear of rising China. Wan-Chu Tsai 蔡萬助 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 72 zh-TW |
