碩士 === 東吳大學 === 政治學系 === 102 === By participating in various political activities, people can express their opinions and preferences towards the government or policies. Previous studies have shown that there is gender difference on political participation. Women are viewed as having less interests than men in political affairs. However, do all women show less interests in political activities? This is the main research question in this study. Besides, the political activities was divided into election and non-election ones in this thesis to observe women’s participation in different kinds of political activities. In this study, we use the year of 1970 and 1990 as the generational cutpoints, and the political developments and women’s movements in Taiwan as the basis of classifications, to classify generations into conservative generation, generation of women’s movement, and post-generation of women’s movement. According to the results, there is a consistency in classifying women generations. Conservative generation participate more in election type of political activities than non-election ones. This generation has the lowest diversity of political participation compared to the other two generations. Similarly, the generation of women’s movement also take parts more in election type of activities. Their participation in non-election activities is higher than conservative generation but lower than post-generation. The diversity of participation of the generation of women’s movement is ranked in the second place. At last but not least, post-generation has both the highest participation in non-election type of political activities and the diversity of participation.
