This study recruited 8 community-dwelling elderly from 2 communities in Taoyuan County who participated in the Memory Box Program as participants to investigate their life review and spiritual health. using in-depth semi-structured interviews. Categorization analysis and scenario analysis were applied for summative analysis and discussion. The findings showed that: 1. The life story of the participants: (1) they were able to overcome hardships and pain; (2) they were able to look beyond the pain and see the meaning and inspiration of life; (3) they were able to accept and adapt to the imperfections in life; (4) they were able to appreciate the efforts and contributions they have made in their lives; (5) they knew how to interact with their younger generations and how to manage a family; (6) they increased social participation through altruism;(7) things elderly people who are females regret the most were different to that of males 2. Discovery of the spiritual characteristics of the participants: (1) faith is the remedy for lack of dependence, spiritual sustenance, and sense of security; (2) forgiveness and contentment is the foundation to spiritual health; (3) acknowledge the past and living life to the fullest enhance inner power; (4) lifelong learning and altruism lead to personal mastery; (5) courage to move forward and surpass hardships lead to discovery of the meaning of life. 3. The effect of the implementation of the Memory Box Program on the spiritual health of elderly people: (1) their attitudes changed from being negative and passive towards participation to being positive and active, and they completed the projects from absolutely nothing, which shows their ability to challenge themselves; (2) they revealed their pasts and healed the wounds, re-interpreted the past in a positive manner, and contently acknowledged the value of life; (3) learned from peers, shared their life experiences, and activated their minds; (4) increased interaction with families and become the model for passing on the wisdom of life; (5) learned to feel grateful and give back to the society and broadened their horizons, maintaining a good cycle among generations; (6) stepped outside the box and learned to face life and death positively; (7) viewed their relationships with families from different perspectives.
Concrete suggestions are proposed based on the above conclusions as a reference for government, educational institutions , seniors and future research Suggestions are proposed to future researches in terms of research methodology, research subjects, and research tools.
