The purposes of this study were to understand the role stress and job burnout of case managers of early intervention , to investigate the factors influencing the role stress and job burnout, and to explore the relationships between role stress and job burnout. A survey was used to collect the research data. Role Stress Scales and Job Burnout Scales were employed to measure the role stress and job burnout of those case managers who worked at case management centers of young children with developmental delays in Taiwan. 164 case managers participated in the research. The research outcomes were as follows. 1.In the domains of role stress, participants had higher scores at the domain of "role overload". Marriage status, the attribute of graduating school, years of current employment, joint-appointment work, category and location of organization, and the deployments of professional of the organizations had significant effects on the scores of role overload. 2.In the domains of job burnout, participants exhibited higher emotional exhaustion. Age, social worker license, years of current employment, joint-appointment work, and the deployments of professional of organizations had significant effects on the emotional exhaustion. 3.Supervision condition, specifically the regularly individual supervision, the attribute of graduating school, case loading, working experiences of general social work and early intervention, joint-appointment work, administrative work, and the scores of role overload and role stress had significant effects on the prediction of job burnout. 4.Significant and positive relationships between the role stress and job burnout were indicated.
