Description
Summary:碩士 === 靜宜大學 === 西班牙語文學系 === 102 === This work investigates the metafictional elements in two works by Juan Jose Millas, The Disorder of Your Name and That was loneliness. In the second half of the twenty century, we see the peak of the metafictional novel which uncovers its formation at the eyes of the reader, revealing the interrelation among the author- the reader and the characters. So, it first explains the concept of metafiction and the variety of resources that there can be, giving examples of universal novels as well as Spanish; it also presents the postmodernism, because in this period there is an abundance of metafictional works. After the analysis of the two novels, we conclude that Millas uses several metafictional resources. Among them: He shows the contradictions in the trama so that the readers can see more clearly than the characters the development of the novel, becoming omniscient readers. Also, he incorporates the intercalated stories, related to the main plot, from the different viewpoints of the characters. And finally, he uses the parody to make evident the ambitious attitude of the writer offering an ending in which the protagonist, who in these two novels are writers, lose their authority.
