When the fiber has a large curvature, optical losses of the fiber will increase sharply. Therefore, domestic and foreign manufacturers of fiber-optic communications usually add to stress-relief bending boots on front and rear ends of the fiber cable. This paper main study the stress-relief bending boots made of thermoplastic rubber, for fiber-optic cables in the bending force is 0.7kgf and influence on the optical loss. In this paper, material parameter fitting based on super-elastic model and uniaxial tensile tests. The finite element analysis and optical transmission experiments are adopted to mutual authentication. Selecting curvature and Comp 22 Cauchy stress is criterion of modification. The main objectives are due to finite element to investigate stress-relief bending boots parameters such as material, width, number of slots, thick. It influence on the curvature and Comp 22 Cauchy Stress. Discussion of the respective parameters described above, the results indicate that the number of slots is an important factor. If you want to modify multiple parameters simultaneously, you better that will correspond to the greatest bending of the cable to the stress-relief bending boots of the bent portion to fill the slot, and increasing the thickness of the thickened region in this area. when the cable was loaded, Curvature was reduced significantly.
