Summary: | 碩士 === 國立虎尾科技大學 === 生物科技研究所 === 102 === Spiders, one of the most abundant and diverse predators, have been evolved for over hundred million years in the world. The silk plays a vital role in their life, including prey capture, escape from the predator, protection of the egg and offspring. The orb web frequently observed nearby is incredible architecture. The web constitute different kinds of silk that have unparallelly mechanical properties such as strength and extensibility. However, it is difficult to obtain enough natural spider silk for application. By genetic engineering technology the scientists tried to produce recombinant spider silk protein. After artificially mimicking spider spinning process, the mechanical performance of the silk fiber may reach to the natural ones. The material containing spider silk protein has been investigated and applied in various fields. In this thesis, the research related to spider silk and its application has been systemically summarized. In addition, the spiders in the campus of Kouhu junior high school, Yunlin have been caught and fed in order to easily study their life cycle and behavior. In fact, about forty species of spiders have been observed. Most of them could be raised easily. Some of them were raised to the next generation. During the master study, my junior high school students accompanied with me showed their interest in campus ecology. This thesis study will assist/ inspire my future teaching in the biology subject.
