When sockets are added extra functions and enhanced use convenience and manipulability, multi-functional socket would play an important and key role in family automation/intelligent family. A multi-functional socket with the functions of measuring/storing power consumption, infrared-control home appliance, and RFID identification is integrated with computer graphic control interface, allowing the users control and observe the power consumption through the graphic interface. The multi-functional socket is integrated with the electric energy metering IC ADE7953 to measure load voltage, current, and consumed power, with RFID, real-time clock (RTC) module, and SD card module to identify types of appliance, time, and power measuring data, and with infrared module to remotely control appliance load through computer graphic interface so that the socket presents diversified control functions for recording, analyzing, and controlling power consumption information, improving improper power consumption (such as not switching off power of appliance not being used for a long time), and reducing unnecessary power consumption.
