People can easily see air compressors in mining industry, engineering, or medical environments. On the other hand, the energy consumption of air compressors is high. Most air compressors using in chemical and steel industry of Taiwan, they need high voltage to switch on. It causes the consumption of electricity rises rapidly as well as the voltage of bus decrease sharply. Needless to say, people cannot avoid overusing the energy of air compressors daily. People have plenty of heavy-duty air compressors in their industries and factories. Engineers should try to figure out how to save or cut the amount of energy consumption. Therefore, we are going to compare the different ways to switch on middle-high voltage motors. They are directly switching on and VFD(or Inverter).
