Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 資訊管理系 === 102 === This case describes how electronic ordering platform become a powerful weapon in the securities industry to compete and expand business in a rapid-changing and highly competitive environment. Providing unique and valuable services will become an important strategic direction to enhance the competitive advantage of an enterprise. JStock securities firm had decided to introduce foreign securities systems in order to improve its competitiveness. During the process, JStock faced many difficulties that need to be overcome and challenges that came with the localization of the systems. At the same time, it needed to make the right decisions in order to bring the systems online while grasping the best timing for market under the time pressure of competition between securities firms. In addition, during the process of cooperation with outsourcing information vendors, creativity and strategies about the platform could be leaked out and be used by the vendors to promote the niche to other securities firms. How JStock should execute strategic outsourcing in order to avoid this problem and to protect the uniqueness of its strategic information platform; also, how JStock should utilize external resources to respond to the rapidly changing and competitive industrial ecology, in order to achieve the highest purpose and the greatest benefits of introducing securities systems from foreign countries.
This case mainly explores how JStock utilized external resources to provide more heterogeneous services, in order to gain an understanding on the overall strategy and attention level of information outsourcing; at the same time, it analyzes the internal advantages and the competetive environment of the industry in order to grasp the core competetive power of an enterprise. Furthermore, it discusses how to maintain the uniqueness of information resources while outsourcing in order to keep the securities system from falling into a whirlpool of isomorphism; to avoid the risks that might result from depending on a single resource while building a trust relationship model of long-term cooperation with information outsorucing vendors. The best business strategy and direction of an enterprise are to continuously strengthen its own core values and to maintain its niche, while exploring new knowledge and potential future possibilities in order to achieve business innovation.
