| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 企業管理系 === 102 === Based on the SWOT framework, this study analyses and explores Taiwan Sugar Corporation’s future opportunities and threats, as well as its competitive strengths and weaknesses. First, the analysis shows the poor performance of Taiwan Sugar Corporation’s past diversification and investment strategies, these strategies need to be re-assessed. Second, the profitability of sugar business sector is adversely affected due to its responsibility to implement government sugar policy. Finally, if Taiwan Sugar Corporation is to be privatized in the future, the most difficult issue is how to settle the land problem. The study recommends that the sugar-related policy obligations of Taiwan Sugar Corporation be lessened or released, and effective measures be taken to cope with the increasing cost of sugar production. With limit growth opportunity for the sugar industry in Taiwan, possible options for future development of Taiwan Sugar Corporation include the transformation of its business into biomass energy, and entering into mainland China sugar market.
