Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 工業管理系 === 102 === ABSTRACT Nowadays we can see several tall building are constructed to fulfill the increasing demand of residential and commercial space. There are thousands of people live in a multistory building, and along with people, millions of dollars are invested in these buildings in form of fixed as well as movable assets. Risk is inherent in every construction project, especially complex projects like high rise buildings. It is helpful to understand the significant risks in order to anticipate their possible negative effects on projects. This research identifies, ranks and categorizes high potential risks in high rise building projects in Taiwan. This study has been developed with the aim to review the risks in high-rise building and to overview the current practice of risk management in Taiwan’s high-rise building, and giving recommendation to improve the practice. The methodology for conducting the study involved literature review, data collection and analysis of results. Questionnaire surveys and interviews were conducted on engineers from construction firms in Taipei. The result shows that risks are interdependent but risks related to management and design are the most significant in high rise construction projects. Construction companies in Taiwan seldom employ formal risk management in their business practices. A proper guideline and model should be developed to steer local construction companies towards a formal practice for risk management.
