Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 工業管理系 === 102 === Order picking is one of material handling processes which want to improve customer service, reduce delivery time and lower distribution costs. To improve the speed and accuracy, an automatic storage carousel system is one type of storage and retrieval equipment to serve high-volume order picking. The carousel will rotate itself and simultaneously the lift (S/R machine) will vertically move to the requested position. After transaction completion, only the lift returns to I/O point (the first level). To evaluate the automatic system performance, this thesis provides analytical models to estimate the expected time to complete one or two transactions based on possible shape factors and class boundaries under random and class-based storage. Simulation experiments present numerical data to validate the analytical travel times for movement scenarios based on different configuration designs. When several automatic material handling systems are eligible for operating equipment, the system performance with cost estimation is one way to evaluate and justify the choice between alternatives.
