Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 書畫藝術學系 === 103 === Nature, throughout history, has inspired artists and is an especially important element—an organism in the midst of life, the balance between stillness and movement—that invokes interconnections and enthusiasm. Even through a miniscule organism, an artist can find the beauty in various aspects of its life as well of its habitat and how the all elements interact. This had led me to observe and incorporate and become involved with my own environment and maintaining a level of homeostasis and balance while reflecting this harmony in my creations. Thus I had chosen to focus on the art of nature and its natural beauty, experiencing the simplicity of life of an animal in its natural elements and using color and composition to capture and emphasize the mystery of movement and the power of stillness and trying to garner the attention of those nearby before it vanishes or deteriorates as it happens in life. Life is beautiful and fleeting and artists have tried to capture a single moment. It is to explore this earth in which that we coexist with our beautiful wild counterparts that has formed the basis of my research and thesis. From creation to nature between stillness and motion, this thesis uses the philosophies of Laozhi and Zhuangzhi who both see beauty in nature. The methodology of the research is to gather and research all sorts of information regarding artists who focused on flora and birds and analyze the both text and image data. In addition, using composition, shape and color psychology, I was able to formulate the constitution of my master thesis final product. Through an appropriate amount of incorporation of thought, practice, experimentation and learning, I was able to complete my research project to fully represent artistry in body, image and constitution. The merger of humanity and nature in Chinese painting has been a widespread and long-standing popular practice. This originates from "Book of Changes" and later extends to the Han Dynasty when Han artist Dong Zhongshu advocated and continued to develop this theory. Dong Zhongshu emphasized that changes in nature parallels people's changes in emotions; there is a sense of mutual correlation. From the creative process to the study of the relation between static and dynamic nature, I am deeply moved by the balance struck in nature—observing the beauty that surrounds us, art is all around us. Post graduation, I will continue to explore and refine this theme and create even more diverse art pieces.
