The interactive sound installation, “Insect Swarm II”, uses digital images and sounds of bionic insects created by real-time computer operations to reflect on this issue. Therefore, this literature review includes research on digital bionics in new media art, such as generative art and the characteristics of the bionic program discussed in The Nature of Code. Afterwards, this paper conducts an exploration of digital sound installations, such as growth process and expression type of sound installation. Finally, it will discuss the creative concept and methods behind “Insect Swarm II”. The interactive sound installation, “Insect Swarm II”, features a microphone that invites viewers to come speak out. With programs that conduct audio translations, the volume affects changes in the digital images of bionic insects, such as the natural biological habitats, gatherings, commotion, and other behaviors of flying squirrels. This interactive process is similar to how humankind has been driving away natural organisms, prompting them to flee from their nests and generate unique insect sounds. These sounds distort and overlap with those of viewers. This work serves as a critique of the huge impact of technology on natural organisms. Lin, Pey-Chwen 林珮淳 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 87 zh-TW |
