Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 腦與心智科學研究所 === 102 === Honey bees have memory and can recognize different shapes and tell different lengths or orientations, and the ability to measure the distance when they are flying. The separation of eyes in honey bees makes them use monocular vision to receive depth information and convert the 2D information to 3D perception. This research will focus on: 1.The ability to estimate the distance by perspective cues. 2. The flight enhances the perception of distance. In the freely flying experiment, two monitors display virtual reality environments. The honeybee would be trained to choice larger or smaller circle in the monitors and tested with circles in the same size with textural gradient background to see whether the size judgment would be affected. The results show that the textual gradient backgrounds have no significant effect to the size judgment. In the fixed condition, some monitors are used to make a surrounding virtual reality. The scenes shown to the honeybee would trigger the flying and turning reflex. We find the honeybee in perspective scenery would be triggered the rotation behavior while flying, however, the honeybee tend to rotate, and response to the higher angular velocity direction in the virtual environment indicate the honeybee response to the velocity, not to the perspective itself.
