They show the decade’s synchronicity, history and memory of the land. Huang began writing children literature and participated in children’s theatre performance in the 90’s. The writing styles of his work, Huang Chun-ming’s Fairy Tales, are not only suitable to the second graders in elementary schools, their rich life education contexts also encourages in-depth collaborative thinking and talks among the students. This study aimed to investigate the implementation of Huang's children's literature in the teaching of reading. This action research recorded a 3-stage teaching experiment in which a literature circle reading instruction was implemented to a second grade class of 29 students. Data were collected and analyzed through observations, questionnaires, interviews, students’ works and teacher’s reflection journals. The object students learned progressively as they gradually practiced the learning community model skillfully in the literary circles. The study found that teaching reading through literature circles not only promoted reading literacy by enhancing students' reading motivation and interests, but also assisted low-achieved students to establish good reading habits, expand their horizons of learning diversification. Teachers' professional attitude is the key factor to successful implementation of literature circles teaching activities. Huang’s children's literature was beloved by the second graders; in addition, its rich literary connotations helped students appreciate literature as well.
