I created the works on the basis of observations through the five senses and internal spiritual perception reflection, for the target of facilitating sublimation of one’s daily life problems, and further to provide salvation of social phenomena. My inspiration comes from my life. Myself, a child who born and grew up in the nature countryside but now being prison in the man-made city, really feel unease by the dramatic changed modern society and the rapidly disappearing natural environment. Therefore, the creation of this research is the conduction of my current life style. I chose clay as my creative media and pottery as my creation form, which are reflections of my treasure memories of my childhood, “playing in the mud.” My creative study is titled “between formwork and building”. It uses the "cement clay" of ceramic art to research the dualistic opposition of “formwork” (the strong imperceptible influence of the man-made environment) and “body building” (the changes in people's helpless hearts). In Chapter I, I derive the motivation of this study from the observation of my life, the evaluation of space-time environments and the translocations of rural and urban areas. The three goals of this study, new ceramic material, environmental protection/living environment awareness and the creation, are also described in this chapter. Chapter II lists the related work including the origins of cement media, the explore of micro-architectures, the link between ready-made objects and environment protection by the accumulating artists, the sense of potters on the urban jungle and the creations of native and foreign artists in the purpose to record contemporary phenomenon. The third chapter is the record of my creation from the ideas that motivated to the completion of this practice. The stories of Concrete technology, the era of consuming and trace fossil are the blueprint of my creation. In Chapter IV, through the process of my creation and the completion of the works, I explain the form, content, ideas, media and techniques of my creation by the images.
