Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 機械與機電工程學系 === 102 === Die casting is a forming process which is suitable for mass production. In the appropriate conditions, there are advantages such as high precision, good casting surface and high production rate. However, it might be prone to existence of defects, such as shrinkage and gas porosity. The main purpose of this study is to test the developed vacuum valve to resolve the gas porosity in die casting process. First, a survey of new die casting processes and the vacuum valve patent was conducted. Then, a new design of vacuum valves was developed considering on structure fitness and their applicability. By testing the developed vacuum valves using both water and liquid metal, it was showed that the structural strength and vacuum valve action of this innovative vacuum valve could achieve the requirements. The evaluation results revealed that the final design of the vacuum valve was satisfied the current die-casting industry requirements. Definitely, this new design is expected to be more cost-effective and market advantage than the current market vacuum valve. Keywords:gas porosity, vacuum die casting, metal flow controlled vacuum valve
