Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 教育研究所 === 102 === This research aims to explore the ‘resilience’, ‘social anxiety’ and their relationships on primary school senior pupils in Keelung city. The 25-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) (Connor &; Davidson, 2003) has been used for measuring resilience and 10-item Social Anxiety Scale (SAS) (LaGreca, Dandes, Wick, Shaw &; Stone, 1988) has been used for measuring social anxiety. Based on the stratified sampling, there were 716 pupils within 28 classes in 14 schools involved in this research (response rate 100 %).
The results show: (1) based on Principal Component Analysis with direct oblimin rotation, resilience has been revealed 5 dimensions: (a) personal perception, (b) ability to change, (c) control, (d) positive coping and (e) spiritual influence, these accounted respectively for the following percentages of the variance: 27.13, 5.30, 5.15, 4.43 and 4.12, and totally 46.13; on the other hand, social anxiety has been revealed 2 dimensions: (a) fear of negative evaluation and (b) social avoidance and distress, these accounted respectively for the following percentages of the variance: 35.81 and 13.92, and totally 49.73. (2) the level of resilience is higher than median (Likert 3-point scale, M=2.29), and social anxiety is less then the median (Likert 3-point scale, M=1.88). (3) it shows low negative correlation (r=-.127, p<.01) between resilience and social anxiety, (4) Based on canonical correlation analysis, the ‘ability to change’, ‘positive coping’ and ‘spiritual influence’ have been shown the influence on ‘fear of negative evaluation’ and ‘social avoidance and distress’ (η=.16). Hence, the related educators need to promote the perceptions of ‘ability to change’, ‘positive coping’ and ‘spiritual influence’ on resilience can reduced the level of social anxiety for improving pupils’ mental health.
