In order to assist terminal operators in planning yard trucks (YT) routing and scheduling problems efficiently, this research develops a mix integer programming model and utilizes the time-space network technique to solve the yard trucks moving problems among all quay cranes (QC) and yard cranes (YC) in the time and space dimensions. The objective function is to minimize the total cost of operating which considers the queuing theory with M/M/S model. The optimized number of yard trucks and its scheduling and routing plan can be solved by the developed model simultaneously. The model can be used to evaluate a real world problem in an international port, and the analysis result could be useful references for port operators in actual practice. In this study, an experimental design of the QC and YC operation network is considered with the import and export containers carrying by YT. The computational result has approved that the optimized paths and fleet size can be obtained by the developed model and it can be further applied to the practical operations.
