Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 公民教育與活動領導學系在職進修碩士班 === 102 === The teachers of Taichung City Junior High Schools were recruited as the study subjects and the questionnaires were used to collect data for investigating the political tolerances of these teachers in this project. The data for this investigation were provided by a survey of 403 public junior high school teachers from 23 schools in Taichung City. In order to investigate the differences between the supports in democratic tolerance principles and the aspects of the actual operations, the political tolerances were divided into “the political tolerance of general democratic principles” and “the political tolerance of specific situations” that implements the abstract democratic principles to the specific situations for studying the relationships between both situations.
There are two input variables including the personal backgrounds and the political factors. The personal background variable includes genders, ages and the teaching subjects. The political factor variable includes ethnic identity, political preference and the conditions of media exposure. The data of teachers’ responses to the questionnaire were analyzed with various statistical methods by SPSS 20.0, including proportion, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson’s Product-moment correlation.
The main findings were summarized as follows:
1.The political tolerance of general principles was medium-high level for the teachers of Taichung City Junior High Schools. However, the political tolerance of specific situations was medium level.
2.For these three personal background factors of this study, the “age” and “teaching subjects” showed significant differences and “gender” revealed no significant difference in political tolerances.
3.As far as the three political factor variables listed in this study, the “ethnic identity” and “political preference” showed significant differences and no significant difference was shown in the “conditions of media exposure”.
4.The correlations between “the political tolerance of general democratic principles” and “the political tolerance of specific situations” were significantly positive.
