Participants in this study included 288 practicum students, psychology interns, and licensed counseling psychologists in Taiwan. The instruments were: (1) the work value scale, (2) the codependency scale, and (3) the career commitment scale. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation and multiple regression were used for analysis. The major findings of the study were as follows: 1.There were significant differences in work value in different genders and different professional development phases. 2.There were significant differences in codependency in different genders, marital status, work experiences and professional development phases. 3.There were significant differences in career commitment in different marital status. 4.The professional development phases was negatively related to codependency, work value was positively related to career commitment and codependency was negatively to career commitment. 5.External values, internal values and captured a sense of purpose through relationships with others that could predict career commitment and account for 40.7% variance. Based on the results, implications of the study were discussed, and suggestions for further research were proposed.
