Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 台灣文化研究所碩士班 === 102 === At the end of World War Two KMT government retreated to Taiwan. Consequently, waves of immigrants brought with them new religions to Taiwan. Tiandijiao was one of them. While it is originated in Tiandejiao, it flourished in Taiwan rapidly, with its distinct teachings, rituals. This study is devoted to finding out how it developed into a major religion in Taiwan and discusses its teachings and organization in depth. It also compares Tiandijiao with Yiguandao and Tiandejiao. This study finds out that Tiandijiao respects traditional Chinese customs in organizing its events. Its teachings also attract intellectuals’ interests and its rituals help to educate people in society. Moreover, Tiandijiao’s political goal is to promote peaceful unification of Taiwan with China under the framework of Three Peoples Doctrine. This is also very unique mong Taiwanese religions.
