The experimental group consisted of ten subjects selected from the 5th and 6th graders obese students. Thereafter, the subjects received 30-minute training in brisk walking five times a week, with the program lasting for twelve weeks. The control group also consisted of ten selected subjects but did not participate in the brisk walking training. All of the subjects were measured with an InBody 3.0 Body Composition Analyzer to determine their body compositions before and after the training program.Meanwhile, forward bending in a sitting posture was used to measure their flexibility;the one-minute sit-up test was conducted to measure their muscle strength and muscular endurance; the standing long jump test was performed to measure their instant power; the 800-meter race was held to measure their cardiorespiratory endurance. The thletic intensity of the experimental group was kept at 60-80% of the maximum heart rate (220/age). One-factor analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) for independent samples was made to identify the effect. The findings reached by the authors are as follows: With the intervention of a 12-week regular brisk walking training program, it had a wide range of effects on the 5th and 6th graders obese students. Specifically, concerning body compositions, there was statistical difference in the participant subjects’ body fat weight, body fat percentage, body mass index, and waist-to-hip ratio between experimental group and control group, but not in body weight;however, there was a drop trend in body weight between two groups. Also, there was 7.8% rising in forward bending,14.5% rising in one-minute sit-up test, 10.4% rising in standing long jump test, but 17.9% reducing in 800-meter running and walking between two groups. These findings suggested that brisk walking training program for 12 weeks had statistical improvement on body composition and health-related physical fitness among the 5th and 6th graders obese students.
