Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 綠色能源學科技學系碩士在職專班 === 103 === This dissertation aims to provide an analysis to the level of impact of global shale oil production to the energy industry in Taiwan. Shale oil exploitation started its expansion over countries in the end of 19th century, and subsequently, this non-mainstream resource of crude oil even developed faster, with the maturity of horizontal drilling, hydraulic fracturing, logging while drilling,Geo-steering Drilling, Micro-seismic monitoring technologies, decreasing the cost and increasing the extraction rate.
From 2002 to 2014,the high price of curde oil also encouraged more and more shale oil into the American market, and a prediction has estimated that shale oil will support around 45% of American crude oil demand in 2015, which will make the U.S. gradually energy self-sufficient instead of importing from others, and even being able to export crude oil in 2017. Exploitation of shale oil not only provided the U.S. one more option of cheap energy resource, but also improved its unemployment problems and helped its economy, and meanwhile ensured its energy resource security, strengthening its energy supply independence.
Nevertheless, this industry is also widely blooming in China, the U.K., Australia and many other countries, and will definitely create huge impacts to global energy industries, and whole ecology and environment. However, this paper would focus on how the evolution of shale oil exploitation affected the oil markets in Taiwan and in the world, by gathering data and states before and after shale oil exploitation development and analyse with the methods of literature reviewing and correlation, and come up with conclusion as follows:
(1)Shale oil production can balance the proportions of energy sourcing in Taiwan, matching energy supply diversification policy.
(2)Investment in shale oil exploitation for the petrochemical and plastic industries and renewable energy research in government-owned institution shall cooperate for sustainable energy development.
The administration shall be active and get into the concerns of shale oil related topics and plans, to avoid the risk of energy supply shortage in the future
