The teaching strategies were designed according to the music curriculum from "Arts and HumanitiesLearning Area." In order to achieve the objectives of the study, this study built up theoretical basis through literature review, and action study was employed as research method. Research tools included researcher-developed “Sense of Rhythm Achievement Test,” “Music Learning Attitude Scale,” “Observation Sheet,” and so on. Research participants were 27 fourth-graders (14 boys and 13girls) from an elementary school in Chiayi City. As an action study, researcher and co-researcher discussed suitable teaching activities for the students, and clarify the course arrangment according to the real situation. In addition, the researcher did a semi-structured interview with the classroom teacher to understand the experiences of music learning, music experiences, oral expression, individual differences, and SES of the research participants. The research period was twelve weeks. Two films were chosen based on literature review and music excerpts were selected from the films as themes of teaching units. They were “Symphony of life," and "Toy Symphony." Also, between two major units is "circle curriculum." After the teaching, the research implemented Sense of Rhythm Achievement Test to assess students' learning achievement. In addition, Music Learning Attitude Scale was administered to evaluate students' attitude toward music. For a better research validity, the researcher employed the triangulation method based on “Music Learning Attitude Scale,” “Teacher Journal,” and “Observation Sheet.” The results of the research were summarized as follows: 1. The study of movement and film music applied in sense of rhythm can enhance professional development of the teacher. During curriculum of the twelve weeks, researcher according to the response and learning situations of students clarified the teaching contents. The process of study helped researcher to gain teaching profession development. 2. Movement and film music applied in sense of rhythm can help participants to achieve the learning goals. The results showed an good effect of learning when movement and film music applied in sense of rhythm. In three parts of Sense of Rhythm Achievement Test, participants did a great work on the performance of sense of rhythm. 3. The learning attitudes of participants to movement and film music in sense of rhythm presented itself as positive and progressive. After research classes, the responses of participants to activities as positive and progressive. Movement and film music indeed can attract interest of fourth-graders, and also increased the interactions between teachers and participants, nevertheless encouraged participants to participate class activities, and enhanced their learning responses. According to the findings, recommendations were made for music educators and future researchers.
